Brazil Factory Opening Case Study

In 2016, JLR opened their first wholly-owned manufacturing plant outside of the UK in Itatiaia, Brazil, manufacturing Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport vehicles - the most popular Jaguar Land Rover vehicles in Brazil.

Prior to this opening, Talking Heads worked with JLR to ensure a smooth launch; linguistically, culturally and technically.

The fully flexible plant has been designed to support the company's future plans and represents Jaguar Land Rover's long-term commitment to the Brazilian market.

This commitment was clearly shown in JLR's approach to staff training and employee engagement with the new team in Brazil.

Talking Heads provided :

  • Translation of 'Train the Trainer' training materials from English to Brazilian Portuguese. Including presentations, proposals, multimedia formats.

  • Provision of Interpreters during the 3 week training programme for new Brazilian team members in Liverpool.

  • Activities included one-on-one and group training, factory tours (technical content) and social activities.

  • Translation of further operational manuals and employee training documents for the Brazilian launch, including key 'Inspiring Tomorrow's Workforce' content.

  • Interpreters for a period of 12 weeks in Itatiaia, Brazil, during the handover of the new factory to the new Brazilian team.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the programme and it gave me the opportunity to learn many new skills. I believe that without ‘Inspiring Tomorrow’s Workforce’, I would not be working at Jaguar Land Rover today.”
